Fauré’s Requiem – April 24th and 26th 2020

In 2020 Divisi will perform its first large scale work for Solo Baritone, Soprano, SATB chorus and Organ. Featuring our very own Baritone Bailey Montgomerie, Soprano Julia Krivoshev, and Conducted by Alex Gorbatov, we hope to encapsulate the very “human feeling of faith in eternal rest” which Fauré sought to recreate in this work. We will pair the work with pieces of the Australian contemporary repertoire.

Women in Music festival – March 2020

As part of our collaboration with Sally Whitwell for Compose Queer, we are performing with her as part of the Women in Music festival in March of 2020. We are so excited to be a part of this incredible festival.

Joby Talbot – Path of Miracles – August 2020

Divisi and Candlelight Vox join forces under the baton of Grace Gallur to perform Talbot’s four-movement epic Path of Miracles. The work was commissioned for Tenebrae and chronicles the physical, emotional, and physical transformations of the Camino de Santiago. The works four stages chronicle the languages and experiences of the pilgrimage and pay homage to the difficulty and pious nature of the work.

Divisi in Recital – 9th August 2019

This showcase recital in Wyselaskie Auditorium featured a selection of choral masterpieces by Arvo Pärt, Franz Biebl, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and a contemporary arrangement of Waltzing Matilda by Ruth McCall. This was our second major program and we tried a much quicker rehearsal period in an attempt to up the professional expectations of our singers and administration.

Tallis to Tavener – 25th May 2019

Tallis to Tavener was a reflective anthology of the evolution of English choral music. The selection of unaccompanied choral compositions featured an array of pronounced English composers in an attempt to document the development of the English tradition in choral composition and divulge its contributions to the distinct styles and techniques we hear in contemporary choral music today.
